David's press tour continues with The Talk on Monday on CBS at 2pm ET 1pm PT/CT. Check out this preview.
David Hasselhoff on Big Brother, Same Name, Sons of Anarchy, and.. Grey's Anatomy?
AOLTV recently interviewed David Hasselhoff, and I must say, it was one of the most refreshing interviews I've read recently, amidst all the others that just like to take jabs at him without even getting to know the real David Hasselhoff. It was so nice to read what David's been upto, what he wants to do, and have the interview show what a nice, down to earth guy he really is.So get out your DVRs, because David just filmed a segment for CBS' reality show 'Big Brother' which airs Sunday, July 24 right before 'Same Name' premieres on the same network.
What's in a name? Well, a lot actually, if it's the same name as an international star. CBS' new reality show 'Same Name' (premieres Sun., July 24, 9PM ET) connects some regular people with familiar monikers with the celebs they share a name with. Celebs like Kathy Griffin, Reggie Bush and Mike Tyson will all meet their nominal dopplegangers this season. But first up: Actor, singer and all-around Hoff-tastic name-dropper David Hasselhoff gets to meet and swap lives with David Haseloff Jr, an electrical technician and landscaper from Lake Jackson, Texas. (No, they aren't spelled exactly the same way, but that's pretty damn close.)I caught up with The Hoff this morning while he was on the set shooting something fun at the 'Big Brother' house to promote the show. He opened up about throwing his name twin to the wolves, making him join him on stage at a concert in Germany, and finding out that they're really not that different. He also gave some more details on his 'Sons of Anarchy' guest spot this season. We know he's playing a former porn star, but he also told us what his dirty nickname is, and that he gets to torture Tom Arnold (who plays porn producer Caruso on the show), which was "a lot of fun."So what other shows would Hasselhoff like to guest star on? Paging a certain long-running medical drama! We might've just found you a new McDreamy ...
Hello! Know you're busy today, so thanks for taking the time. Hey there! Yeah, if I'm chomping on a burrito, I'm sorry ... I gotta go do something on 'Big Brother' right after this. I don't really know what's going on [on 'Big Brother'] to be honest. It's one of those shows I thought I'd never be on, but it's super high-rated and our whole gag is a prelude, a contest to figure out who this guy is that has the same name, which'll make for a nice little promo for our show. It'll also give me a chance to see David Haseloff again. I was flying in from Madrid last night, and he already texted me: "It's David Haseloff Jr! L.A. can't shake me!"You've turned him Hollywood![Laughs] He's a cool guy. He's got a real big heart, but he's also a smart guy. I saw him out one night playing me, while I was playing him ... TMZ was after him, and they were asking him some pretty intrusive questions. He looked over at my bodyguard and gave him a little nod and he got him out of there. That's the crazy thing about the show -- you're not just meeting someone with the same name, but you all actually swapped lives for a while. Yeah, we swapped everything. [Laughs] I threw him to the wolves! I did a concert in Germany, we walked through 9,000 people and I came on singing, "I've been looking for freedom!" He was dressed just like me, and somebody brought him on stage and I said, "Here's another David Haseloff -- want you to meet my soul brother, even though he's not my brother, he's my brother in name. And he wants to sing a song [laughs] ... he's from Lake Jackson, and he wants to sing 'Country Roads.'" And he couldn't open his mouth! [Laughs]Did you all bond at all?We became pretty fast friends, and we've been texting each other occasionally. I have a new girlfriend, so he'll ask "How's the new girlfriend?" and I ask about his baby boy. One of the nicest things was Candy, his mother, when we left she said, "Well we don't care about this show anymore -- we just want to hang out with David Hasselhoff!" And he felt the same way about my dad. He moved into my house and met my dad and said, "I want to learn more about the Hasselhoff genealogy." We're from two different worlds that are really the same -- just different environment, different size house, different size travel, same problems, same family issues. There's comedy in a celebrity going to live a "normal" life, but did you learn a larger lesson? You know I'm so grateful right now and humble for what's happening in my life. I've never had a problem with ever taking this job for granted. With 'Knight Rider' being canceled and sitting around going, "Now what do I do?" and being able to go over to Austria and create a music career until 'Baywatch' came along ... I just kept going and working really hard, and that's basically what he does. I said, "Why do you do it?" And he said, "It's for my family." I don't spend money on myself. I have a nice car, but I don't own it, I lease it. My money goes to my kids, my money goes to making sure they're OK and getting them in acting and singing classes, because they're following in my footsteps, and taking care of my father, because he's by himself now. We all have the same issues, it's just a different world. The values are the same. You do have to work hard to get a call like you did from Kurt Sutter to play a former porn star on 'Sons of Anarchy'!I know! Are you kidding me? That was one of the greatest days of my life, playing a former porn star! From 'Knight Rider' to porn star, baby! [Laughs] It went really well, too -- I had a blast. What more can you tell us about your character?Everybody's kind of laidback and so heavy. I'm supposed to be a guy who's very well-endowed ... they call me "Big Co*k" ... so I enjoyed kind of coming in and getting a little heavy with the 'Anarchy' guys. At the end it was an amazing experience because a lot of them had grown up watching 'Knight Rider,' and they were as thankful for me coming there as I was to be there. I had a bunch of episodes sent to me, and Katey Sagal is in it, and I went to college with her ... she is a dear friend of mine. I said, "I know what the part it, but I don't even know how big it is, but let's just go and have some fun."Do you get to ride with the SAMCRO guys or carry a gun?No, but I got to torture Tom Arnold, which was a lot of fun. [Laughs] Hopefully I'll get asked back. I think they were already talking about bringing the character back ... it's kind of a natural because they were in the porn business in the beginning. You're sort of everywhere lately ...I'm kind of at a point right now where things are just rolling in the right direction. I just keep walking the path and staying healthy ... God's opened a lot of doors for me, and especially my daughters, and 'Same Name is ... you know, just get your handkerchiefs out, because it's pretty emotional. Are there any other shows you'd like to guest star on?Of course I'd love to be on 'Grey's Anatomy.' [Laughs] When we were having some rough times, my daughters and I, we would go in and have a marathon of 'Grey's Anatomy.' I'd love to come in there, more than anything, to be on 'Grey's Anatomy. 'Sons of Anarchy' was pretty cool too, playing a porn king -- I liked that!

David Hasselhoff Trades Places With... David Hasselhoff
David Hasselhoff was in Lake Jackson, Texas for a few days last week trading places with a man that shares his name. The Texas Hasselhoff was in Los Angeles riding in David's car and living in his house. He is a power technician who said David's LA house was "awesome."CBS is producing this reality show called "The Same Name" about people who have the same names as celebrities and trading places with them. It's rumored to air next Summer. I wonder how David liked being a power technician for a few days?Hayley Munday found some video of David at Kicks in Texas.TMZ was able to get this video of Texas David Hasselhoff out in LA.David also blogged from a helicopter while he was in Houston for the reality show.I wasn't able to find any photos of David out in Texas, but apparently he was out signing autographs at a local mall. David Visits The Cologne Museum of Chocolate
From CBS News
Although David Hasselhoff's recent reality TV series co-starring his daughters, Taylor-Ann and Hayley, may have already been cancelled, he can find at least he can find comfort in chocolate. The former "Knight Rider" and "Baywatch" star recently toured the Cologne Museum of Chocolate in Germany, where the American actor has an intensely-devoted following as a pop singer."This is probably the only chocolate museum in the world and you know it's funny because I wish my daughters were here to share in this because this is something I think every little kid in the world would love," Hasselhoff told reporters during the visit.Hasselhoff came up with some holiday gift ideas for his family."My assistants will pick up some chocolate for my daughters. Because this will be their first Christmas present so we're going to do a little 'Super-Market Sweep' of chocolate today."Shopping aside, Hasselhoff also got to cook up his own chocolate Santa Claus -- a sweet diversion from the promotion of his upcoming pop music tour dates in Europe. As a performer, Hasselhoff has gained a huge following in Germany"I've never seen a chocolate museum. As a matter of fact, I came here to talk about my tour and now all I want to do is eat chocolate."But "The Hoff" may not want to indulge too much, as he will soon prepare for his upcoming tour and a return to Television. The Associated Press reports that he will soon replace Simon Cowell as the host of "Britain's Got Talent," the U.K. program which propelled singer Susan Boyle into the spotlight.

David Hasselhoff Talks "The Young and the Restless," Today & Yesterday
From: tv.msn.com & HNC
After over 30 years away from daytime, David Hasselhoff is set to return to "The Young and the Restless" from June 15-21! Deanna Barnert got a chance to sit down with David and chat about his upcoming appearance on Y&R, reprising his role as Dr. Snapper Foster for a few episodes.BACK WHERE IT ALL STARTED
"It was amazing coming back here. It was so surreal. I was talking to Wings Hauser (Greg), who came back. It was like we never left. Wings and I were laughing, making jokes, still being cocky crazy. Everybody was so positive. It was, without a doubt, an amazing four days."After the first day, I said, 'Oh god, I've got to go home and learn these lines! And there's no cue cards?' They said, 'We'll bring you cue cards,' but I said, 'No, I don't want cue cards, I want to see if I can do this.' It was very different from the way it used to be, but I loved it. We just got out there and screwed around - that's the technique I've always used to distract myself, so I don’t get nervous. It was like a big family."I was smiling for four days, and I haven't smiled for four days in a long time."LURED BACK TO WHERE IT ALL STARTED:"When I got on the phone with [Maria Bell, headwriter], she was so incredibly nice and enthusiastic about my coming [that] it was a no-brainer. I use it as an episode for my [upcoming A&E reality] show. I wanted to go back to my roots to A) honor Bill Bell [creator of 'Y&R' and 'The Bold and the Beautiful"') and B) see if I can still do it. I like to be terrified. It was terrifying to come back. But it wasn't hard. It was easy, because it's what I do. I did 800 shows, so somewhere in my subconscious, the show's still there."My daughter punched up YouTube. You can see the episode where I say goodbye to Chucky. I couldn't believe it. YouTube has documented everything in my life, good, bad or indifferent."THE FAMILY NURSE"My daughter, Taylor Ann, is playing one of the nurses. To work with Taylor was just mind boggling, because she's wearing the Snapper Foster scrubs! I chewed her out, because she brought in the wrong medicine and my mom is having a hard time."There was a lot of emotion flying around, but more than anything, was how much we all laughed. Jess [Jill] doesn't laugh. She pretty much stays in character, but everyone else is just hysterical."RECONNECTING WITH THE FOSTER CLAN"We're all going to get together when this airs. Julianna (McCarthy, Liz) was wonderful to see. She was so funny. Here she's in bed and she's very ill, and we were making the funniest jokes and then going into these heavy scenes. Wings and I haven't seen each other since the ['Y&R' 20th anniversary party]. He went off to do all kinds of heavy roles. He came up to me and said, 'I always remember how you could always cry on your downstage, left eye,' [and then], 'I always talk about how you were one of the best actors I ever worked with.' It was so nice to hear that, because he came on and he was super green. Then I was super jealous when he went off and became this huge movie star, and I was still stuck in the soaps! "Jess [Walton, Jill] was terrific! 'I'm blown away by you,' she said, 'because your emotion is just right here and you just get right into it.' I said, 'Jess, it's like I never left. It felt so normal and easy. I'm an emotional guy, anyway, [and] there's a family crisis, so it required a lot of emotions and frustration."THE GRANDE DAME OF "Y&R" "Jeanne Cooper (Katherine) looks incredible! Unbelievable. She's 81 and she blows us all away. Jeanne saw me in 'The Producers' in Las Vegas and she called several times to give me support when I was getting some bad press. She was great, so I was excited to see her and work with her. She's so brilliant. She just turns it on, and that's how I learned my technique, from watching her."A ROUGH START ON "Y&R":"For the first two years, it was a rough time for me. I was replacing William Gray Espy and everyone loved him. I got a ton of hate mail. I remember reading one letter that said, 'Every time you act, I want to regurgitate and climb the walls.' I said, 'You better climb the walls, 'cause I'm sticking around.' I remember writing this person back, going, 'This is horrible. I'm hated.'"I turned it around, because Jeanne put me under her wing. She took me home and helped me find Snapper. She called Bill Bell and said, "Let him be emotional. Let him be different than William Gray Espy,' who is very cool. It was a big shock to everybody. With the help of her and this book that I still believe in, 'The Power of your Subconscious Mind,' I turned it around."STEPPING INTO THE KNIGHT (RIDER) "Bill [Bell] supported me and allowed me to go. He could have blocked the whole thing, because I was under contract, but he said, 'You're destined to be a star and I'm going to let you run.' I came back again, but then I walked away from 'The Young and the Restless' with 40,000 in my bank account and moved to New York, because I had to follow my dream [and do Broadway]."That's when Brandon Tartikoff saw me on an airplane and asked me to audition for 'Knight Rider'. After 'Knight Rider' came 'Baywatch' and I walked away from 'Baywatch' saying, 'I've got to do Broadway before I'm too old.' I'd wanted to be on Broadway since I was eight years old. 40 years later, when I was 48 – ack! – I finally got on Broadway with 'Jekyll and Hyde'."THE "Y&R" WORK ETHIC"It set my entire mode of professionalism - of never missing a day of work [and] always knowing my lines. The work ethic here was amazing, even though we used to go out and party a lot."I have such respect for soaps. Everyone else would laugh at them and take them off their resume, but I was always like, 'What are you laughing at?' Everybody who came on the show here, like guest stars from primetime series, would fall apart! So many people have come out of soaps. I remember seeing Alec Baldwin at the Soap Opera Digest Awards [after] I'd left and was doing 'Knight Rider'."SNAPPER IS ALWAYS WITH HIM "To this day, people still stop me and say, 'I still remember you as Snapper.' It was 34 years ago, and honest to god, when we announced I was coming back, I'm on an airplane and the stewardesses are going, "I hear you're going back to the soaps!'"I was afraid I was going to come in here and completely not be able to remember my lines, but I came in and it was like I never left. It was unbelievably fun. The emotion was flowing."JUST A SHORT VISIT - PERIOD!"One of the girls came up to me and she was kind of cute. I found out she was single. I thought, 'Hm.' She said, 'Why don’t you hang around? It's great having you back.' After the third day of the lines, I said, 'I don't think so!'"It's great coming back and they're like, 'You're here! You're here!' Then after the third or fourth day, no one gives a damn, because you're into having to learn your lines and do it."THE STORY ON THE A&E REALITY SHOW: "It's going to be 'The David Hasselhoff Show' or 'The Hoffspring' and it's coming out in August. It's about my life with my daughters and me trying to show them the ropes and get them to the door, but they have to walk through the door."They both sing and want to be a techno pop band. Now, Hayley's got a job on 'Huge', where she's starring with Nikki Blonsky on the ABC Family about kids that go to fat camp. She just hit and she's been doing this for four years. She's been battling being plus size, speaking out about it and being a role model for kids. Then Taylor went off to University of Arizona, but they came back and said, 'Dad, we want to be a band.' They'd offered me this reality show and I didn't want to do it, but I said, 'What if we do it about you guys becoming singers and I'll just do 10 episodes,' so we're doing it."MESSAGE TO FANS"Tell the fans I said, 'Thank you' and 'Stay tuned. You're going to love the shows. You are guaranteed to cry. The crying Hasselhoff has returned.'"
