David 'The Hoff' Hasselhoff has joined Supanova's celebration of geekery, gaming and gadgetry on the Gold Coast. The Knight Rider actor posed for photographs and signed autographs for Supanova fans on Sunday, as he rode in a replica KITT car from the classic television series in a parade down Broadbeach Mall. The Hoff was a TV institution in the '80s as Michael Knight, before hitting mega-stardom in the early '90s as Mitch Buchannon on Baywatch. For those who do not believe The Hoff has enough geek cred for Supanova, it’s worth noting a 1998 telemovie called Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.That's right, The Hoff was Nick Fury before Samuel L. Jackson.Supanova is a pop-culture expo where patrons revel in the opportunity to dress as their childhood heroes. Crowds can be made up of Stormtroopers, Pokemons and Wizards of Middle-earth.However, dressed in a conservative black buttoned shirt and jeans on Sunday, The Hoff looked more like a high school teacher than a modern day knight fighting crime with the help of an artificially intelligent and nearly indestructible car.The expo, now in its 11th year, is held in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Adelaide.More than 120,000 patrons attend Supanova annually to dress up, trade rare collectables and pay upwards of $100 for a photo with their favourite celebrity from yesteryear.
