David Hasselhoff's Rat Pack Dream
From People
The Hoff is signaling he still has a few songs left in him.  "I decided to try and do something indicative of the kind of show I would like to do on the road," David Hasselhoff tells PEOPLE about his recent singing-and-dancing performance on America's Got Talent. Hasselhoff, 57, performed a Rat Pack-style version of Nina Simone's "Feeling Good" on the NBC talent competition Wednesday, complete with back-up burlesque dancers and a Parisian street-scene set.Â
"When I was over in Germany, I played to the German markets and it was all pop," Hasselhoff says of his European music career. "I have done Broadway, the West End, Vegas, [the musicals] Chicago, and The Producers. I decided to do something I wanted to do and that's Rat Pack. I love the Rat Pack." The Hoff, who is more well known for music in Germany than in the U.S., reveals he will be returning this year to Germany, where he sang at the collapse of the Berlin Wall in 1989. "It's the 20th anniversary of the Berlin Wall this year," Hasselhoff says. "I sang to a million people there in 1989. I sang 'Looking for Freedom' the night the Wall came down ... I'm going back this year." While Hasselhoff recalls his role in European history, his American fans may remember a very different anniversary. Twenty years ago Hasselhoff debuted his role as beefcake lifeguard Mitch Buchannon on Baywatch, which premiered in 1989. "I had no idea," Hasselhoff says. "How weird is that? That this is the 20th anniversary of Baywatch."
