Peter Pan Pantomime Cast Members Receive Their Saplings

PHOTO CREDIT: Matthew Page, Nottingham PostNottingham's panto stars have been presented with a sapling from England's oldest tree - the Major Oak in Sherwood Forest.David Hasselhoff, Su Pollard and Blue Peter presenter Barney Harwood were all given two-year-old trees, grown directly from acorns from the famous 1,000-year-old Oak.Robin Hood - who is said to have hidden from his enemies inside the tree - handed over the gifts himself on Monday, December 23.

Councillor John Knight, Committee Chairman for Culture, at Nottinghamshire County Council said: “This gesture recognises what the cast are contributing to Nottinghamshire through their performances this season, and helps us to raise the profile of the important conservation work which we do within Sherwood Forest which has some of the oldest trees in Europe. It is also the legendary home of Robin Hood and we are delighted he is also able to attend the presentation as we meet the cast members.
