David Hasselhoff To Talk to NCN Students

Hoff at NCNBefore David leaves Nottingham, he has one more thing to do.New College of Nottingham says it's getting the new term off to a hoff-tastic start, by welcoming no other than guest speaker David Hasselhoff.More than 300 students from ncn’s academy of Creative, Cultural and Digital Industries will get the chance to hear from and question the international superstar about his life and career in the media industry.Students will attend the special event at Broadway Cinema this Friday (10th), which will officially launch ‘jamcon’ - ncn’s creative careers conference.David will speak about his rise to stardom in Knight Rider and subsequent global success with Baywatch and his more recent stints on stage in Chicago and on-screen as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, not to mention his 5m record sales worldwide. As a thank you to David for ending his time in Nottingham with ncn, he will be escorted to the venue in an E-type Jaguar, which comes courtesy of the Nottingham Motor Company - the car dealership purchased by ncn last year to launch its new motor vehicle training courses.New College Nottingham Head of Academy for Media, Film & Digital Technologies, Jonathan Laud said:“At ncn we’re massively excited that the Hoff is making time before his last weekend in the city to come and talk to our students. His speech kick starts our annual event which throws a spotlight on careers in the creative industries - we can’t think of an artist who has had a more diverse and successful career covering a whole variety of creative careers, from actor, presenter, singer/songwriter, producer, theatre star and director. He’s been immortalised in cartoon animation and in videogames and his story is nothing short of fascinating. It’s a privilege to be welcoming him to ncn.”TV and Film BTEC ncn student, Sandra Tkacz, 19 from Aspley, added: “I’m very excited about meeting the ‘Hoff’, I’ve been looking forward to it for weeks. It’s amazing that he is coming to speak to us, I remember watching him when he was on Big Brother. I’m looking forward to hearing about his career and experience and how he got into the industry. I think it will motivate us all, I’m really looking forward to it.”

Peter Pan Opening Night

Peter Pan VIP Party

Peter Pan started Saturday in Nottingham with Hoff the Hook with a VIP Reception. The Royal Centre posted photos to their Facebook page of the event.David Hasselhoff has helped spark record-breaking ticket sales this year for Peter Pan. The Nottingham Post wrote a review of the Panto. Here's an excerpt:

He [good-natured pirate Mr Smee] found the perfect foil in Hasselhoff for other side-splitting moments, including a marvellous section where he and his camp troupe of twerking pirates repeated everything ‘the Hoff’ said. There were also some amusingly smutty misunderstandings when Smee stored a telescope in his trousers as well the bikini-clad pirate’s own must-see tribute to Hasselhoff’s hit show Baywatch.Ironically, it fell to Smee to give the legend that is the Hoff a suitably over-the-top introduction when the television colossus joined proceedings 25 minutes in.

"He's certainly the biggest name we've had in panto for the 15 years that I've been here," said Jonathan Saville, director of sales, marketing and development at the Royal Centre."He's one of the biggest names who'll be appearing in panto across the UK this year; probably the biggest in terms of global recognition. We've had people buying tickets from all over Europe, including Germany and Croatia."Over 52,000 people have already booked Peter Pan tickets, a 17 per cent increase on this time last year, which broke records with 56.375 total sales. Mr Saville expects The Hoff factor to pass that once Peter Pan, which also stars Su Pollard and Barney Harwood, is up and running."Your local legend Su Pollard is really a pro," Hasselhoff told the Post, during a break. "And I'm a pro. We come from the old school.""We've been incorporating Hoff into pretty much everything. So the marketing office is now the Marketing Hoffice."As Peter Pan opens, next year's Theatre Royal panto will be announced, although the cast won't be revealed until the new year."We aren't going to get David Hasselhoff back next year," said Mr Saville."At least, I'd be very surprised if we do."One of my jobs this Christmas is to go to other pantos around the country to see who've they got and whether we want them to come to us next year."Tickets for the 2014 panto also go on sale on Saturday.See Friday's EG for more words from The Hoff. In tomorrow's EG Daily we talk to Blue Peter star Barney Harwood. And don't miss our chat with Su Pollard and The Hoff at nottinghampost.com.

Don't forget to tweet with #Hoffwatch if you see David out in the UK!

He likes getting out to quiet spots and just blending in "as opposed to being the Hoff or David Hasselhoff", he says. And he's looking forward to getting to know Nottingham."We're certainly going to enjoy it," he says. "My daughters are coming up for the holidays.""You'll see me in and about Nottingham," he says. "I'm not a recluse."I would love to come and see other shows (but) that's the problem because we're working. I like to get out to a resort, someplace out in the country. I really enjoy that."
