Endless Summer Wisdom from David Hasselhoff

As we told you earlier in the week, David Hasselhoff has a short interview in today's USA Weekend.Although he put away his Baywatch bathing suit nine years ago, David Hasselhoff, 59, is back on the lifeguard stand in the horror comedy Piranha 3DD, opening June 1. Now that his daughters, Taylor-Ann, 22, and Hayley, 19, are out on their own (with new performing careers), he has more time to sing, act and appear on reality shows. The Hoff offers his thoughts on the joys of summer at a beach:Best beaches: “For the epitome of the California lifestyle — the realBaywatch — it’s Huntington Beach. It’s got the girls, the surfers and the waves. Bondi in Australia is my all-time favorite for hanging out. The Mount in New Zealand has the best waves. I also like Santa Monica, Zuma (in Malibu) and Makena (Hawaii).”Speedos: “Don’t wear them unless you’re a professional swimmer, water polo player or alone with your girlfriend. On Baywatch, we wore Speedos under our shorts.”Getting tar off your feet: Use rubbing alcohol.Preventing sunburn: “Wear lots of sunblock, especially when you’re young, and make sure your kids wear it. Most sun damage occurs in your early years. There’s lots of melanoma out there. Our Baywatchcrew guys came down with minor forms of skin cancer. As long as you get it checked right away, you’re OK.”When swimming: “Always swim near a lifeguard tower.”Best beach book: “Don’t bring one. You want to look at the babes, swim and just enjoy.”Best thing about summer: “I’ve got to have summer in my life all the time. New Year’s Eve 2010 I was on a stage in Berlin at the Brandenburg Gate singing Looking for Freedom. I got on a plane and woke up in Australia, where it was summer. I look for summer all over the world.”
